DeMar DeRozan Climbs to 22nd on NBA Career Scoring List! Kings vs Knicks Highlights (2026)

In an impressive display, DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points, propelling him to 22nd place on the all-time NBA scoring list. The Sacramento Kings triumphed over the New York Knicks with a final score of 112-101 during their game on Wednesday night. This victory marks the Kings' third consecutive win, effectively overshadowing the return of Knicks coach Mike Brown, who was making his first visit back to Sacramento since his unexpected dismissal early in the 2024-25 season.

For the Knicks, Mikal Bridges contributed 19 points. However, the team faced a significant setback as Jalen Brunson was sidelined for the majority of the game due to a right ankle injury, managing only four points before limping off after five minutes of play.

DeRozan's performance was noteworthy; the six-time All-Star, now in his 17th season in the NBA, shot 7 of 16 from the field, including one successful three-pointer, and remarkably converted 12 of 13 free throws. This remarkable effort brought his career total to 26,077 points, allowing him to surpass Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett, who finished his career with 26,071 points over 21 seasons.

Other contributions for the Knicks included OG Anunoby with 15 points and Karl-Anthony Towns with 13 points. The Knicks struggled offensively, shooting just 39% overall and hitting only 8 of 41 attempts from beyond the arc. This defeat marked their first loss in Sacramento since March 9, 2023.

Before the game, Mike Brown received a warm welcome from the Golden 1 Center crowd, reflecting the impact he had during his nearly two-and-a-half seasons with the Kings, where he helped break the longest playoff drought in NBA history in 2023. In a touching moment, Brown embraced Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, who had made the decision to part ways with him in December 2024.

Zach LaVine led the Kings with 25 points, contributing to their streak of consecutive victories over the Rockets, Lakers, and Knicks. Additionally, former Knicks player Precious Achiuwa had a standout game, recording 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook added 19 points and 11 assists to the mix.

Both DeRozan and Achiuwa started strong, each scoring 10 points in the first quarter, setting up the Kings for leads of 18-8 and then 32-17.

Looking ahead, the Knicks are set to face the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, while the Kings will host the Washington Wizards on Friday. For more updates on top stories in California, you can check our app or subscribe to our morning newsletter.
