The Atlanta Falcons are on the hunt for their next head coach, and the search is heating up! After parting ways with Raheem Morris at the end of the 2025 season, the Falcons are looking for their 20th head coach in franchise history. A new leadership team, including Falcons President of Football Matt Ryan, is leading the charge, with help from ZRG Partners and Sportsology Group.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank has emphasized a slightly different approach this time, focusing on hiring a President of Football first. This person will then play a key role in the interviews for both the head coach and general manager positions. The interviews will be announced after they are completed with each candidate.
The Falcons have already completed an interview with Klint Kubiak for the head coach position.

Who is Klint Kubiak?
Currently, Kubiak serves as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.
A Closer Look at His Resume:
- Kubiak has built up experience since 2015, with stints as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and New Orleans Saints.
- He's currently leading one of the league's most dynamic offenses with the Seahawks, who recently secured the NFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the conference. This was the team's first division title since 2020 and their first top seed since 2014. The team's 14 wins this season set a new franchise record.
- Offensively, the Seahawks finished the regular season 3rd in scoring and tied for 7th in total yardage.
Local Connection:
Kubiak has a past with Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins from their time together in Minnesota (2019-21). If Cousins remains in Atlanta, there's already a degree of familiarity.
Why Kubiak? The Falcons' Perspective:
Kubiak brings over a decade of offensive coaching experience to the table, which could be exactly what the Falcons need. With a mix of young and experienced talent, including franchise quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (drafted in the first round of 2024), star running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London, and a returning offensive line, Kubiak could be the key to unlocking the team's full potential.
But here's where it gets controversial... Kubiak's success with the Seahawks is undeniable. In 2024, the team was 14th in total yards and 18th in points scored. In 2025, under Kubiak, they jumped to 8th and 3rd, respectively. The Falcons, in comparison, ranked 14th in total yards and 24th in points scored this season. Could Kubiak replicate this success in Atlanta?
Kubiak also comes from the Shanahan coaching tree, known for producing high-powered offenses. He worked under Kyle Shanahan with the 49ers in 2023, contributing to running back Christian McCaffrey's league-leading rushing yards and yards from scrimmage, leading to a Super Bowl appearance. This is promising for the Falcons, who have a similar workhorse in Robinson.
And this is the part most people miss... 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for the fifth-most yards in the NFL, which could be a goal for Penix.
